Phil Easton 1949 - 2009

It was with great sadness that I heard of the death of Phil Easton in February 2009. My first recording of the Great Easton Express was in October 1976 and Phil played a Frank Zappa track. As many Zappa fans will know it’s difficult to find a track that can be played on air (either because of content or song title) and most presenters will fall back on the track Dancing fool (what a great track it is too) which was released a few years later. Phil decided to push the boundary and play The torture never stops from the Zoot allures album. Thoughts are with Phil’s family, friends, work colleagues and his audience.
